Moving can be a stressful process, but we’re here to help! Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about moving:

  • 1. How far in advance should I schedule my move? We recommend scheduling your move at least 4-6 weeks in advance to ensure availability and to give you ample time to prepare.

  • 2. What items should I avoid packing? Avoid packing hazardous materials such as flammable items, perishable food, and valuable documents. It’s best to transport these personally.

  • 3. How do I pack fragile items? Use plenty of bubble wrap or packing paper, and clearly label boxes with fragile items. Place them in sturdy boxes and ensure there is minimal movement within the box.

  • 4. Do you offer packing services? Yes, we offer professional packing services to ensure your belongings are safely and efficiently packed.

  • 5. How do I prepare large furniture for moving? Disassemble any large furniture if possible, and keep screws and small parts in labeled bags. Use furniture pads and blankets to protect surfaces.

  • 6. What should I do on moving day? Ensure all boxes are labeled and ready to go. Confirm details with your moving team, and do a final walkthrough to ensure nothing is left behind.

General

Plan thoroughly before moving – consider timeline, budget, packing, movers vs DIY, transportation, address change, and contacts.

Generally our schedule usually fills up 2-3 weeks in advance. Saturdays tend to fill up in less time. However, we’ve had customers book a move 1 day in advance! We understand that moving is hectic and Shannon Moving will do our best to accommodate your needs in scheduling your move. Contact us today for a hassle-free experience. 

Shannon Moving offers packing and unpacking services. We are expert packers. If customers prefer to pack their own goods, we have a wide variety of materials available to purchase for packing.

Shannon Moving can provide storage for you in San Francisco, California. If you require storage in the area you are moving, we can make arrangements for this too. Storage is available for as little as one month to several years.

We have a wide variety of packing material available to purchase. Additionally, on local moves we provide wardrobes on move day at no extra charge. We also have used material available at reduced costs and frequently at no charge when available.

We have 8 – 10 wardrobe boxes on the truck at any time. They are great for your hanging clothes.

99 times out of 100 you do not need to empty dressers, unless of course, they contain breakable items.

Be sure to remember to inform all necessary parties such as your post office, banks, and utility companies in order to ensure a smooth transition.

Pricing

If you are moving locally, your move can be paid for with cash, check or credit card. 

We have a 2.5 hr min. charge, and charge in increments of 15mins.

Drive time is calculated based on distance.

We provide free professional grade moving blankets and wardrobe boxes
Wardrobe boxes are very useful for hanging clothes and speed up the move.
We can expertly disassemble and reassemble beds etc. We also wrap flatscreen TV’s.
We do not charge extra for these services. 

 

For exceptional service, it’s always a good idea to show your appreciation to your movers. 20%+ of the total cost of the move would be considered a generous tip. In saying this however, tipping is entirely up to you. A small token of appreciation can go a long way in making sure your move is a smooth and stress-free experience.

Protection & Insurance

We do offer a basic insurance rate of $.60 per pound in weight at no additional charge.
If you need more comprehensive coverage, we are affiliated with www.MovingInsurance.com.
They can guide you through their insurance rates.
